Is life all about survival or living it to the fullest? We are only living a life if we thrive otherwise we are just surviving. So, what do we need to do to thrive in life? All we need to do is acquire some basic skills. Basic skills are of various types, one of them is life skills. To succeed, attain happiness and win the game of life we definitely need to attain essential life skills. According to WHO life skills are a group of psycho- social competencies and interpersonal skills that help people make informal decisions, communicate effectively and develop coping and self-management skills to lead a healthy and productive life.
The Management of SMCTE organized a one day workshop on life skills on 25th of February 2017. The resource persons for the session were Dr. Ryntihlin Jennifer War and Ms. Namrata N. Rynjah. The session began with a prayer. The morning session was headed by Dr. Jennifer, she briefed us about body image, self image and self esteem. The post lunch session was headed by Ms. Namrata, during this session she explained about various types of life skills.
The workshop was very beneficial for all of us both as persona and teachers to be. Life skills are essential parts of being able to meet the challenges of everyday life. After the workshop each one of us found a visible change in our personality and it helped us in discovering our “Incredible Self”
We know that life is not always sunny, life is like the changing season, sometimes sunny sometimes rainy, Sometimes winter all cold and frozen other times autumn weathering out. Life skills act as our umbrella in rain, our coat in winter and our sunscreen in summer. In short life skills prepare us for all the seasons of life.
